Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had surgery for GERD 12 years ago and now have symptoms again and am on Medication. My gastroenterologist thinks the surgery is coming undone. Could there be a corrective surgery or should I stay on meds the rest of my life? Also, is there a new-type scope which can be insterted to check on things rather than the standard endoscopy where you are put under sedation?

What Causes Recurrent GERD Symptoms Post Surgery?
Hello, It could be a bout of gastritis. As first-line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. Avoid spicy foods. If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
