What Causes Recurrent UTI After A Bowel Resection Surgery?

8 years ago I had a ruptured diverticulum...bowel resection followed. I also have fairly frequent urinary infections. my temp runs low but is now 99.5 with chills. I have pain in the lower back and in the lower abdomen. I just took the macrobid. but i m worried it could be another bowel rupture. how do I know?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A recto-bladder fistula may be the cause of recurrent infections.

Do a colonoscopy to control the diverticulitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
General & Family Physician
