What Causes Recurrent Chest Tightness While Having An Artificial Heart Valve?

My 18 year old daughter complains periodically of uncomfortable, almost painful tightness in her chest. Her pediatrician & the Doctor @ her college find nothing (even after X-rays). She does have a biordic heart valve, please advise. Thank- you! Julie Barr Beaverton, Or

I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per history please follow my advise below:

1) Do ECG and ECHO to check status of valve

2) Do an angiogram to ruled out artery blockage

3) Do full blood count with differential

4) Correct iron deficiency if HB % low by injectable medications

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
