What Causes Recurrent Cough Despite Taking Antibiotics?

for the past year I have had a cough that i felt was caused by post nasal drip that was making me choke. I saw a dr and was put on antibiotics and steroids for a week. My problem completely resolved, but slowly returned. I have not been choking quite as bad, but have had a cough and a lot of mucus in my throat. Now I feel like something is pushing on my trachea. and causing a lump in my throat feeling. Im female, 55 and have Hypothyroid.

Hello,

As you explain the situation first I would recommend you to do a chest X ray .If it negative than an ultrasound of the thyroid gland is needed because the enlarged one might be the cause.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
