HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Out of the 4 common causes for
chronic cough, you have been treated for 2 these. If the treatment was for an adequate amount of time, then it is possible that it may be due to the other causes.
The 4 most common reasons for chronic cough are: (1)post
nasal drip syndrome, now called upper airway cough syndrome. This is the the most common. A large number of persons are not aware of the drip itself and only present with the cough
Treated with decongestant/anti
histamine combination along with nasal sprays such as nasonex, nasocort, flonase.
Sometimes no effect is seen for 3 weeks. Meds need to be continued for at least a few months
(2) reflux
(3)asthma
(4)non asthmatic eosinophilic bronchitis- this is a special type of bronchitis related to the presence of a certain type of
white blood cell in the air passages. Can be diagnosed based on sputum sample to the lab. Treated with inhaled or oral steroids.
I hope this helps
