What Causes Recurrent Diarrhea, Vomiting And Fever?

My normally healthy 15 year old son has been sick 4 times in two months. First was virus w/ vomit and diarrhea, second bad cold w/ fever, third was diagnosed strep w/ fever (took entire antibiotic script) and a week later is sick again w/ 101 fever and headache. What gives and what should I do?

Hi..

Thanks for contacting HCM for health query.

Your son is 15years old who has recurrent infection four episodes over two months..

I understand the anxiety in you.

Do not worry.

Any fever which is high grade will disturb the immune system and a vicious cycle should have set in , infection -reduced immunity -infection.

If I have a patient like this in my outpatient department I would do complete work of blood including culture, peripheral smear and search for uncommon fever as well.Clinically I would thoroughly check him up and if I have liver enlarged order for malaria,rales in lung order for chest X-ray etc..


Till the work up is over Madam feed him well with protein rich food,Give him nice aerateroom,never allow your anxiety to pressurise him.
