Hello,
It is important to know what exact medications your granddaughter is currently taking because it sounds like she is on multiple psychiatric medications for
depression and
bipolar disorder in addition to ADHD, which may contribute to current symptoms possibly as side effects or interactions.
I am not sure what
ADHD medication if she is on, but one of the side-effects that may occur from that ADHD stimulant or other psychiatric medications is the
dizziness, which may have been contributed to her episodes of passing out.
Patients who develop symptoms such as unexplained
syncope, or other symptoms suggestive of cardiac disease during stimulant treatment should undergo a prompt cardiac evaluation to rule out any other underlying conditions.
There is also a warning that extra attention and care should be taken in using stimulants to treat ADHD patients with comorbid bipolar disorder because of concern for possible induction of mixed/manic episode in such patients.
You may want her parents to take her to her doctor to discuss further if her syncopal episodes continue to get worse without improvement and also make sure to have other work up including cardiac evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
