What Causes Recurrent Fluttering Sensation In Ears Despite Taking Antibiotics?

I have had an ear infection and my doctor gave me a course of antibiotics , my ear was fluttering , it stopped for 3 days but started again, I have now been using steroid ear drops for a week , the fluttering stopped for 3 days but has now started again , it happens when I yawn or belch , I have half a bottle of drops left should I continue using them or what do you advise , thank you

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent fluttering sensation in ears despite taking antibiotics which can occur due to accumulation of ear wax, ear fluid, ear infection to more serious condition like acoustic neuroma. Need not to worry. Avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object. If your symptoms and episodes of earache are getting frequent then you should consult ENT specialist and start treatment after prescription. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax buildup , middle ear infection. Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , may prescribe medicine antibiotics. Doctor may prescribe drug like eperisone , muscle relaxant and sedatives. Maintain hygiene and avoid pricking it with sharp object.
