What Causes Recurrent Headache And Vomiting In A 6 Year Old?

My 6 year old daughter went to bed last night just like normal. She woke up an hour before normal crying of a headache. She went back to bed shortly after & was moaning. When she finally awoke, still complaining of BAD headache, we gave her children s ibuprofen & she fell back asleep. She awoke again at noon with the same headache & vomited after a small meal. Since then she has been sleeping off & on & dry heaving. Slight temperature....bad headache.....nausea. Also complained of the bright lights indoors.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of recurrent headache and vomiting this seems to be viral fever or flu. It could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body. Child has symptoms of acute gastroenteritis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

1) Drink plenty of fluids, have proper rest.

2) Avoid immediate sleep after taking food and prefer small and frequen meals.

3) Do warm saline gargles.

4) Take analgesic such as Flexon and take light diet.

5) Take anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to prevent fever and body-ache.

Your symptoms will resolve in 3-4 days. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit general physician once and get it examined and start treatment after proper examination and prescription. Go for blood tests as well to find out exact pathology.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
