Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sister in law that has suffered from headaches for two years. She says it start in the morning and gets worse by night. She has had scans and xrays and only thing they found was a degenerated disc between 4 and 5 in her neck. She saw a spinal surgeon and he said it was not the cause of her headaches. He sent her to a pain management doctor who did injection in her scalp which worked once but nothing after that. I think she is having tension headaches and my question is can you suggest a different type of doctor or something else she can do.
She may be suffering from migraine or tension type headache. I recommend visiting a psychiatrist or a neurologist for a better diagnosis. If all the work up was unremarkable, it favors both of these already, as these also have normal investigations. I suggest using beta blockers as prophylactic therapy specially propanol, as well as NSAIDs like neproxen. Decision to start triptans or escitopram should be after psychiatrist or neurologist review.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
