What Causes Recurrent Headaches?

Headaches have been a rare occurrence for me throughout my life. But in the last 3 months I've had 2 typical sinus/head colds that end with a 3 day headache. The first day is mild and come and go pain, the 2nd day contains a 4-6 hour window when the pain is sharp, constant and unbearable. The last day or two goes mild again. I was wondering if this could be a normal development or if I should look to get some kind of scan. Thanks
