Hi,

Hives are caused from several causes such as a viral or infectious condition, or food, or a substance or material that we take contact through our skin or parasites, or a drug but in this case, is not an option because the hives are more severe after a drug reaction. The cause might be also a hepatic or gastric disease.

The examination that you have to do to investigate if any of these conditions is the cause are: blood elements and formula, bilirubin, AST/ALT, azotemia, creatinemia, glycemia, c relative protein, total IgE, urine test, parasites in the stool, IgG, IgM H. Pylori.

If no relevance in any of these than other further tests are needed, especially if the situation persists more than 6 weeks because that means that the situation is chronic. Regarding the treatment sometimes urticaria cannot be dominated by just antihistamines, it needs also corticosteroids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
