What Causes Recurrent Insomnia Despite Normal Blood Work?

Hi, suffering from recurrent insomnia for two years - cant`t sleep for more than 4-5 hours, wake at 4.00 - 4.30 every morning, hair fall, puffy eyes in the morning, gained 10 pounds or more for one year, heart palpitaion. Checked twise TSH, FT3, FT4, antibodies...TSH DEC, 2016 - 0.85, DEC,2015 - 1.5. .My endo says nothing was to be done further, just relax, but I can`t sleep. Gynecologist said I had no cysts or else to worry about. What else should I look for so sleep is back ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thankyou for asking your queation at health care magic

According your hi
story ,since you have consulted endocrinologist and gynecologist, and all the work up seems normal. I will think about the possibility of sleep Apnoea.

I would like to know more about your history including
your age
weight
medications
history of hypertension, diabetics
day time sleepiness, tiredness
pattern of insomnia like difficulty going to sleep or frequent and early waking up from sleep
snoring
stressors/recent big changes in your life
recent weight changes,appetite changes,depressed feelings

I also want to get a detailed physical examination done including weight and BMI, neck circumference, ear, nose and throat examination to look for possibility of sleep apnoea.

I suggest you consult your primary care physician who can refer you to a sleep specialities or get a sleep study done to rule out sleep apnoea.

The treatments available for sleep apnea are very effective and will help you with sleep apnoea.

Undiagnosed and Untreated sleep apnoea result in health problems like hypertension, heart diseases in the long run.

Hope I could help you
Regards
Lekshmi
