What Causes Recurrent Intense Knee Pain?

In December I had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. After trying to begin to exercise pain has come back. My PA believes it is from some arthritis in the knee joint. When she examined me it did not hurt to touch or poke the any part of the exterior of my knee. The only pain I had was when I was bearing weight. This weekend however I am having much more severe pain and it hurts quite severely when I touch my knee (on the inside of my leg, right about in the middle of the joint. Would osteoarthritis cause pain from touching the outside of the joint? Thanks for your help,

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

After knee meniscus repair, patients do complain of pain in the knee. The patients are explained about the risk of meniscus repair surgery.

At times the patient may experience pain & stiffness of the knee even after surgery.

Post surgery risk or complication also include infection, blood clots, damage to the joints, damage t the blood vessels & nerves around the knee.

You are suggested to have a follow-up examination by your doctor so that the pathology causing you discomfort can be assessed & treated at the earliest.

Do not do heavy weight lifting or strenuous exercises. You can get blood work out done for OA & RA. You may have to go through Joint aspiration, anti - CCP, CRP, ESR, X-Ray, MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
