What Causes Recurrent Itchy Rashes On Body Despite Using Benadryl And Hydrocortisone?

I had a rash that started on my arms, the doctor said it was peteriosis, due to a scaley look and itbwas raised a bit, and uncontrollably itchy, was told to take benadryl for the itch and burn and to use hydrocortisone cream, but that burned so bad to put on, went in again because it went all over my body , I now have little blood speck looking rash on my hands and feet and still some itching on my arms but not much rash on my arms anymore , I have an appointment to see a dermatologist but I have a bad feeling it s something maybe rare and may be bad news, so curious if this sounds like anything a doctor knows about.?! Or if it sounds like anything familiar?
