What Causes Recurrent Low Grade Fever After Suffering From Tuberculosis?

hi. my friend got infected with tuberculosis bacteria in the lymph nodes of intestines. the disease was diagnosed after more than one month s persistent low grade fever (100-101C). He is in the third month of TB treatment and is taking three tablets of Rifa-4 in the morning (empty stomach) and one tablet of vitamin in the evening. his Fever settled down in the first month and ESR came to 20. but since last two days he is again suffering from low grade persistent fever with ESR of 50 and also experiencing nausea. What can be the reason of this recurrence of fever when he is taking medicines properly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to tuberculosis.

For fever, you can take tablet acetaminophen.

For further assessment, you may require complete hemogram, chest X-Ray, sputum examination after chest physician consultation.

You may require anti-tuberculosis medications after consultation.

Take a balanced diet.

Use the mask. You can take cough syrup containing ambroxol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale, Family and general physician
