What Causes Recurrent Mouth Ulcers Along With Diarrhea In A Child?
My 9 year old son has recurrent mouth ulcers, and several times lately has had small sores at the angle of his mouth and problems around his cuticles with ?splitting skin. He has also been troubled with loose bowel motions and some stomach discomfort in the last week. Could these be related? Thank you for your opinion.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of recurrent mouth ulcers along with diarrhea which seems to be due to recurrent aphthous ulcers and it could be due to excessive intake of acidic food which can lead to these symptoms.
Need not to worry. Usually they resolve by themselves in few days. I would suggest you to
- Avoid intake of spicy food and acidic drink.
- Take plenty of fluids.
- Do warm saline rinses and maintain complete oral hygiene.
If the condition do not resolve in 4-5 days then consult dentist for proper examination and to rule out other conditions like canker sore. Doctor prescribe oral antibiotics.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
