Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 42 year old male. Otherwise healthy, but approximately 10 days ago I suddenly started experiencing nosebleeds (no prior history). Over that period, I have had a total of 7. 3 have been what I would consider severe (constant bleeding, one lasting approximately 40 minutes, one approximately 45 minutes and one lasting approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes). One has been what I would consider moderate (approximately 20 minutes) and two were minor (5-10 minutes in duration). I have had no recent trauma, do not have high blood pressure, do not believe dry air is a likely factor (home HVAC systems have humidifier units to maintain humidity levels), do not use drugs (cocaine) and am not on any medications that would contribute to the nosebleeds. Any ideas on additional causes and or recommendations?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent nose bleeds, well nose bleeding is very common problem which can occur due to simple injury to nose , but recurrent nose bleeding require medical attention . There can be many reasons for nose bleed like tumor in your nasal passage, hard blow to the head may cause the skull to get fractured, which in turn could trigger such symptoms , Hypertension and medication such as aspirin, or heparin on a regular basis . I would suggest you to consult doctor for proper examination and to find out exact cause . Doctor may order CT scan or blood test . For now apply ice pack on nose , avoid over exertion and do not bend forward .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
