hello and thanks for writing to HCM.
i have read your query and understand you have a pain on your left foot.
Before coming to the query,it would be really helpful if you could detail over some points:
your age,sex and occupation?
your height and weight?
do you play any active sports/had any history of trauma?
do you have
diabetes or such known medical disorders?
coming to the query,a
sharp pain the ball of the foot can occur in the case if you have a flatfoot and thereby weight distribution is uneven,
other common cause is obesity which also is due to excess load, yet another significantly common cause seen in clinic is
stress fractures/injury to metatarsal bones of foot.
depending on your age,if you are past 35-40years of age, mild
arthritis will also present with similar symptoms.diabetes can also cause a dull pan due to nerve involvement
i would recommend to
-completely avoid ill fitting shoes if you use any
-metatarsal supports like arch supports, metatarsal pads, supportive cushioning shoes,
orthotics etc
-Stretch your Achilles tendon and strengthen your foot muscles.
-use icing for pain
-use
ibuprofen or
aceclofenac for pain when needed
-avoid strenous activities
if pain doesnt subside with above,i recommend you take xrays of both ankle and foot and consult an orthopedician for diagnosis and surgery if needed.
hope it helps ,and clears your doubt.follow up if needed.good day
