Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recurrent pain in my groin around the area at the top of my left leg. No swelling or redness, it just hurts from time to time. When it is acting up, I have trouble walking on my left leg and the pain goes down the inside of my leg. It will ache when lying down in a fetal position and feels better when stretching out while lying down.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like the pain is due to groin strain, nerve compression, sudden contraction, stretching or tearing of the muscle or ligament. Nerve entrapment may also cause discomfort. Take rest, avoid any heavy work e.g., lifting of weights. Medications like Tylenol & slow stretch exercises are helpful. However, testicular inflammation, inguinal hernia or kidney stones may also trigger groin pain. Visit ER, get physically examined by PCP, get all investigations done to screen out the pathological condition that is triggering pain. Get treated, take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
