Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i occasionally will have a pain in my heels which is very painful in varying degrees. In the past my doctor would give me an injection of cortisone directly in each heel. Last month I was on vacation and far away from my doctor. I had this pain in my left heel that made walking very difficult to walk. I was able to see a local MD that gave me a prescription for a pharmacist to give me an injection in my left hip. I was puzzled by this and wondered why the injection was not as it has been in the past.
Hello, Hard to tell you for sure. It is possible that the doctor thought your heel pain was due to a misalignment in the hip and thought that treating the hip may help the heel. Not sure. Often heel pain is caused by plantar fasciitis. Warm compresses, stretches and inserts for plantar fasciitis can be very helpful and help you avoid steroid injections. Regards
