Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having recurring pain in right wrist and had carpal tunnel surgery in each wrist a few years back. Woke me up and won t stop. Probably from too many push ups at the gym. Is it better to put heat or cold on my wrist to relieve the pain until I can call my dr this morning?. He is in another city and before he recommended Meloxicam for 30 days on this wrist when it flared up. thanks Molly Parker
If your wrist is swollen, then applying cold packs every couple of hours for 10-15 minutes at a time will help reduce the swelling. If there's no swelling, but there's stiffness with the pain, then use heat in the same way as mentioned.
The meloxicam will also help for the pain in the meantime, and avoid excessive use of your wrist until you've started feeling better.
