What Causes Recurrent Penile Discharge Despite Taking Azithromycin?
I have been experiencing slight penile discharge for several weeks in that time I have seen my Doctor, had 3 swabs two urine samples and blood tests all showing negative for chlamydia and gonorrhoea I have had one course 2 tabs of Azithromycin at 1 1/2 weeks but am still having discharge My Doctor looked at prostatitis also but was not convinced of that I am sitting on another course of Azithromycin and may also go to a specialized clinic. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Dear Thanks for contacting with your concern in this platform and after giving thorough consideration to your history I'm of the following opinion:
1. If examination for gonorrhea is negative (twice) then it could be non gonococcal for which Norfloxacin 400 mg twice daily for 10 days is prescribed.
2. It could be Balanoposthitis thus look for phimosis and diabetes.
3. Consult an Urologist for your condition/ symptoms, till then . clean the part repeatedly and smear it with soframycin ointment . if prepuce cannot be retracted for cleaning, Irrigate it with potassium permanganate solution using a syringe. .check blood sugar and control diabetes if present.
4. If there has been a contact with the wife after the infection, treat the wife also otherwise infection will persist within the couple.
