Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurrent Pseudoseizures And Impaired Speech?
subject experiences a pseudo seizure like event frequently that causes her to cramp and contort at the hands, also is semi lucid, but speech is impaired. after massage and fairly violent neck adjustment producing loud deep cracking of the neck, she will immediately snap out of the degraded state with a sharp intake of breath and nearly vomits. At that moment she is completely aware and feels normal but doesn t remember the event. It seems that there may be pressure on the spinal cord due to maybe fluid build up or calcium spurs inside the vertebra? any thoughts?
Seizure disorder needs to be examined by a neurologist/physician. How do you know is it pseudoseizures or normal seizures.
If the patient is not losing conscious means he may be having simple partial seizures or myoclonus or parkinsonism etc. Please get it done MRI brain and spine, EEG, serum electrolytes and calcium.
Avoid high-risk activities, avoid alcohol consumption. Please consult your neuro physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
