What Causes Recurrent Seizures Despite Taking Dilantin?

Never had seizure my entire life till I went through a really bad divorce at age 32 and heavy stimulants drugs use for 20 years. I am now 35 and I am having 2-4 major bad seizure a year. What would be the cause? They put me on dilantin. Will this help or what is wrong?

I can understand your concern. High doses of Amphetamines are known to precipitate seizures. Seizures could occurs due to a number of reasons. If you had episodes of seizures then MRI brain should be done to rule out any cause related to brain. EEG can be done to localise the focus of seizures.

Dilantin can help in controlling the seizures effectively. Phenytoin is one of commonly used drugs for generalised seizures. Please continue with the medicine and get your MRI and EEG done to find out exact cause of seizures.
