Does Masturbation Trigger Epilepsy?

hi i'm a 15 year old girl and I have epilepsy. My question is, does masturbation cause more frequent seizures? Or does masturbation and seizures have no ties. My doctor doesn't know what causes my seizures so I wasn't if masturbation could be a reason.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

No, masturbation does not cause seizures. So, we need to find out the cause of seizures in your case.

In about half the cases of epilepsy, it could be familial, if there is a positive family history of epilepsy.

In the remaining cases, MRI brain and EEG (electroencephalography) may be done to look for abnormalities.

There are good anti-epileptic drugs that can prevent recurrence of seizures.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
