Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why is my diaphragm cramping so often? It happens throughout the day, whether I eat or not, whether I m active or sitting still. It s very painful, sharp, can hardly breathe through the pain. The pain lasts about 10 seconds when it occurs. I don t have any other symptoms. And the pain occurs right where my diaphragm is located.
I understand your concern. The pain in the location you perceive as diaphragm pain could be due to other causes, it could be coming from the stomach, pancreas or the horizontal part of your colon. With the information you gave it is difficult to narrow down the cause any further. The fact that it can happen at any time regardless of when you have eaten, makes it harder to pinpoint it to the stomach. I recommend you see a doctor for further investigation.
I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best
