What Causes Recurrent Small Blisters Inspite Of Taking Zovirax For Chicken Pox?

My son is 18 years old. Recently he got chicken pox and it is 20th day today. most of the blisters have healed, dried and fallen. But every alternate days some small blisters are erupting and getting dried in two / three days. This has been happening from 9th day onwards and continuing even now. Could you please explain why this is happening. For the first five days he was on medication Zovirax 800 , 5 per day.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is normal history of chicken pox to develop blisters followed by drying. Zovirax-80 viral used to treat herpes simplex infection. Zovirax may not be effective for chicken pox. The eruption of blisters will halt within few days.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
