What Causes Recurrent Spontaneous Attacks Of Dizziness?

Yesterday I had several episodes of brief dizziness when going to a standing position from a sit down lasting approx. 10 second. Today some of the same (But not as concerning as yesterday). I take 25 mg. hydrochlorothiazide, 40 mg lisinopril, 40 mg. atorvastatin and 20 mg omeprazole. I have lost several lbs over the last few months ( but I 223 lbs., in December 2015, now 206 lbs.) I associate that to better eating habits and walking approx. 45 -60 minutes 4 x s a week. By definition, I am a borderline diebetic (No meds, just exercise and diet). What do you think? Thank you, Dan

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, you should monitor your blood glucose level and your blood pressure regularly, do kidney function tests and eye examination every 6 months. Your condition could be either due to the anti-hypertensive drugs you take or autonomic instability, which occurs in patients with diabetes. Diabetes causes neuropathy of the autonomic nervous system, which controls blood pressure and other vital processes in our bodies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dr/Mustafa, Neurologist
