On and off for most of my life I've had sticky stools (47 yo male). But after receiving a dose of ZPAC for an unrelated illness, my sticky stools completely disappeared for about 6 years. But in the last few months, I'm having sticky stools again. Any thoughts
Hello.Sticky stool indicates that either you have a stomach infection which is not cured or malabsorption issue.Sticky stool comes in mainly two types: black tarry stool and greasy stool that floats. Tarry stools may be evidence of internal bleeding, as occurs with stomach ulcers, while greasy stools can indicate a malabsorption issue, such as pancreatitis or food intolerance. In either case, avoiding certain foods may offer relief. There are couple of things you need to do . 1)Avoid food that has lot of fats and difficult to digest like fries, butter, oil etc 2)Consult your family physician and ask him to prescribe you medicine(enzymes) that will improve your digestion. 3)Avoid going off to sleep immediately after dinner and 20 mins walk after food is must. That will aid your digestion process. 4) Also ask your family physician to start you on Antibiotics like ciplofloxacin with tinidazole to cure your stomach infection if you have any. I hope this helps you.
