Hello,

Your friend is suffering from typhoid since the last 2 days and also has a history of recurrent typhoid attacks, hence, fever and illness. Recurrent attacks of typhoid commonly occurs through eating contaminated food and drinking contaminated water. He is suggested to take home made boiled food and drink boiled water after cooling it. He should not take spicy, oily junk food or processed and packaged food.

He should always take well cooked home made food, boiled veggies and fruits to help digest better. Typhoid is more prevalent in places with less efficient sanitation and hygiene. He should take care of his hygiene and also improve sanitation. Be wary of eating anything that someone else has handled. Avoid eating at street food stands on regular basis. Always eat home made food that is still hot. Avoid taking ice in drinks.

Avoid raw fruit and vegetables and peel fruit himself. He can take antacids for relief. Stay at rest and stay on strict diet control (as advised). Avoid taking hard to digest food. He can take antiemetics to stop vomiting. He can take a course of antibiotics after getting repeat Widal test, CBC, urinalysis or imaging test if required. He should get clinically examined by a GP and get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

It is unlikely to have recurrent typhoid if previous episodes have been treated fully. There can be other reason for fever and vomiting like intestinal infections. He requires a detail physical examination followed by blood investigation for accurate diagnosis. After that, treatment is simple.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
