What Causes Recurrent Warm Sensation And Pressure In Tailbone Area?
My tailbone has been bugging me for about 3 months. I ve been getting a warming sensation and a pressure sensation when I sit. Often, I have to move off my tailbone or stand in meetings at work to relieve the pain, but that doesn t always help. I thought I had bruised it riding a bike, but ice did not resolve my issue. Admittedly, I did not use ice very long...only a couple of times. The sensation went away, but about every week or so, it comes back. I have good bowel movements, so I don t think it is related to my rectum. Any suggestions on where I should turn next? I ve been thinking a chiropractor.
Pain of the tailbone ( coccydynia) can be due to different possible causes, trauma , as you mentioned is one of them, this is the most common cause.
The other causes are:(1) poor posture (2)repetitive straining (3) increased weight (4)aging
An xray of the are may be helpful.
Using anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam, may help. Massage and manipulation of the area by a physiotherapist may also be helpful.
I hope this helps
