What Causes Recurring Abdomimal Pain, Fatigue And Weight Gain?

Hi, my husband seems to be having more stomach problems the last few months. He complains it hurts and the food (like spicy) he use to eat doesn t like him anymore. He drinks beer and bourbon but not daily, just weekends normally. He is tired all the time no matter how much sleep he gets and he sleeps good when he sleeps which is normally 7-9 hrs. He has some weight on him. I just heard that drinking and taking Advil can cause panicreitis(not spelled right I m sure). Thank You

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It could be chronic pancreatitis and you should take him to the doctor and get his blood tests like complete blood counts, serum amylase and serum lipase levels done. He should also get his thyroid profile checked as he may also be suffering from hypothyroidism. He may also need radiological investigations like Ct abdomen. Till then try avoiding spicy foods completely and keep him on soft diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
