Hello,
Recurring
back spasms may be due to many factors like overuse, weakness,
muscle strain, tightening of the muscle, etc. Since you are experiencing recurring back spasms with stiffness in the neck; it may be indicative of an underlying spinal problem, such as
osteoarthritis or
herniated disc. Medical conditions that may cause similar symptoms are slip discs, degenerative
disc disease,
radiculopathy, etc. You are suggested not to sit for long hours on the PC / laptop. It may trigger your symptoms, take break between work.
Maintain correct posture during walking, sitting or sleeping. Make sure the mattress on which you sleep is partially hard and comfortable. Take adequate sleep. Stay away from addictions if any. Do walking and exercises regularly. If obese lose weight. You can take
acetaminophen, one SOS when pain and discomfort. Baclofen helps to reduce muscles stiffness and relaxes it. You can take one SOS when needed. However. you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all routine tests, investigations and Imaging tests done to do detailed study so that the treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
