What Causes Recurring Back Spasms With Difficulty To Breathe?

for the last 3 to 4 months I have had chronic back spasms that can last up too 5 to 6 hours to the point I find it hard to walk without it feeling like iv got electricity shooting up my back every time I put a foot down it becomes painful to breath, iv had a chest capacity test because of my asthma and a us scan on parts of my back and they have both come back clear. it has been 2 days since my last spasm and I am still finding it hard too breath, feels like iv been beaten with a iron bar. sleeping is becoming a nightmare as it hurts. also walking uphill or stairs leave me fighting for my breath. I am a smoker.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The substantial amount of difficulty with breathing must have underlying pathology to be co-related as interstitial fibrosis from chronic smoking or others.

If the lung capacity test was normal, I would quote for the CT scan of the thorax as a final diagnostic tool here.

Wish you great health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
