What Causes Recurring Bouts Of Abdominal Cramping And Diarrhea With Palpitations?

I have had 3 episodes in the past 9 months. I get stomach cramping with diarrhea. While I am going to the bathroom I get rapid heartbeat that I feel from my chest up to the top of my head. It feels like my head is going to explode. My ears ring and my throat, tongue and lips get numb and tingling. When the cramping and diarrhea stop I feel fine.

Hi,

Noted your history of 3 episodes in 9 months of cramping in abdomen followed by diarrhea associated with palpitations, ear ringing, numbness and tingling of throat, tongue and lips, feels fine on stopping of cramping and diarrhea.
As per the history you have provided, the causes may be one of the following:
Anxiety attack causing all such symptoms as you have mentioned.
Enterocolitis having momentary hypermotilty of intestines ad during the same period loss of electrolytes in third space of intestines causing other symptoms.
IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor and discuss these points with detailed history so that a proper clinical evaluation can be done and the investigations advised accordingly.
Repeated tests of stool.
Tests of blood particularly for thyroid functions.
CT scan of abdomen and
Colonoscopy if advised.
Second opinion of a Gastroenterologist if needed.
The findings on all these things may give hte best possible diagnosis and thus allow the best possible treatment.
