What Causes Recurring Bouts Of Dizziness And Blurred Vision?

For about the last 2 months, I ve been experiencing dizziness when I stand up too fast. My husband says my whole body rocks slowly side to side. When he talks to me, it sounds like it s muffled and my eyesight gets blurry. I can t talk until it s over, about 30 seconds. My heart is normal and my bp is usually around 112/65.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of postural hypotension. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:
- Complete blood count for anemia
- Thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction
- Blood electrolytes for possible electrolyte imbalance

A Head Up Tilt test would help investigate for postural hypotension.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
