Hi,
Heart beat more than 100 times per minute is known as tachycardia. Tachycardia may result from some conditions such as anxiety, stress, anger, fear, exercise, caffeine containing drinks like coffee, tea etc, dehydration, fever, HTN, anemia,
thyroid dysfunction,
electrolyte imbalance, heart attack,
heart failure,
cardiomyopathy, some lung diseases, infections, hot weather etc.
Some investigations like ECG, exercise stress test, ECHO, CXR,
thyroid function tests, CBC, s.electrolytes etc can be done to detect the underlying causes for tachycardia and then treat them accordingly. Propranolol may be taken for controlling rapid heartbeat.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
