What Causes Recurring Cold And Cough Inspite Of Taking Calpol In Children?

Hi, My Son is four year old. A week back he has light cold and we don t want to give him any medicine for just light cold. Now he is facing severe fewer, cold with cough for past two days. On the previous visit to one doctor he advised to give ibugesic plus if fewer is above 101 deg. Fewer went down and again it was there after 5 yo 6hrs so we have given calpol syrup (120mg - 10 ml) since fewer is less than 100. Parallel he is facing severe cold with cough. Previous in our visit a doctor told to give Relent. Please advise.
