What Causes Recurring Cold, Blocked Nose And Sore Throat?
Hi, I am suffering from recurring type of cold (earlier was blocked nose with severe throat swelling and pain). I initially took dextramine 2 mg with Danzen 10 mg (TOLPA). But after 2-3 hours of taking the effects of cold would return. it has been on since Sunday night. Should I switch to an antibiotic now? I currently have Levoday and Novaclox with me. Unfortunately I am travelling so donot have the opportunity to contact my GP back home due to the time difference.
Depending on how long you have been having these symptoms and whether you have certain signs such as fever, cold symptoms like these are usually caused by a virus, so antibiotics would not be expected to help at all. Other medications can be used to help with symptoms, but often they do not help much, and basically, it will just take time for your body to clear the infection on its own.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
