What Causes Recurring Convulsions In A Toddler In Spite Of Taking Valparine?

My 2 yrs old daughter has got around 5 febrile convulsions so far in her life span. First when she was 15 months old, then back to back three when she was 2 yrs old and now 1 minor convulsion at 2 yrs 3 months. All the convulsions have been due to high fever. However We were asked to give her Valparine solution regularly some months back. Even after giving that she got the last convulsion. My question is how did the convulsion occur even after giving valparine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

balparin prevents convulsion due to changed nerve circuit in brain. Febrile convulsions are stimulated by high body temprature. It is treated by bringing down temprature&is prevented by preventing rise of temprature.

I would suggest consultation of a nurophysician & EEG to confirm continuation of Valprine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
