What Causes Recurring Cramps In Legs And Hands While On Diuretics?
My husband has been prescribed diaretics to keep his stomach from filling up with fluid so quickly. Now he gets really bad cramps in his legs and hands if he does the slightest thing. Are there any supplements that he could take to help prevent the cramps?
Diuretics, especially loop diuretics, such as Lasix work by flushing out water from your body and that is why most of the diuretics will cause dehydration resulting in muscle cramps.
Talk to your husband's doctor. He may change his diuretic.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
