What Causes Recurring Dark Colored Vomit During Pregnancy?

My daugter is about 11 weeks pregnant she cannot stop vomiting and is sick all day everyday she has brown slimy vomit why is it brown? Dr gave her b6 and reglan but when she takes it she just vomits right back up. What helps to stop vomiting and keep her hydrated?

hi,
I understand your concern.
Brown vomit indicates bleeding in stomach. This follows excessive vomitting , keeping the stomach empty leading to raised acidity & bleeding from stomach.
Management includes
- Proton pump inhibitors ( like Ranitidine 150 mg three times a day),
- antacid like gelusil MPS 2 tablets to be sucked three times a day/ whenever there is burning in stomach.
- Perinorm pill 1 every 12 hours till vomitting stops.
-Cold milk diet every 2 hours / bland easily digested diet after vomitting stops.
* consult a gasteroenterologist fpr specific dosage/ need of other investigations/ need for IV fluids.
