What Causes Recurring Ear Congestion And Pressure?

I have had recurring ear congestion for the past two years. I have seen my family practioner three times for the same complaint. There is no fluid in the left ear; however, it does feel stuffy and I feel more pressure. At this time, I do not feel that it is filled with fluid as in the past. I am not suffering from allergy/cold/sinus symptoms at this time and my ear congestion in the past was not accompanied by other allergy/cold/sinus issues. I am frustrated, confused, and now concerned what this may be. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms can be related to an allergy.
I suggest to try an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as Acetaminophen, to ease an earache or pain from sinus pressure.
Try a decongestant such as Dexometorphan.
Over-the-counter nasal sprays can ease sinus blockage which in turn can relieve clogged ears.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
