HI DOCTOR, LAST WEEK MY FRIEND FAINTED WHILE HE WAS SITTING IN A CHAIR IN THE MORNING. HE CONSULTED A DOCTOR NEARBY AND HE PRESCRIBED HIM SOME MEDICINES. HIS BP WAS NORMAL BUT HE HAD CHOLESTEROL. HE WAS ALSO ASKED TO GET SCAN AND IT IS ALSO QUITE NORMAL. AFTER A WEEK HE FAINTED WHILE HE WAS RIDING HIS BICYCLE. WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS? CAM YOU PLEASE HELP ME?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Recurrent fainting episodes with high cholesterol should be investigated thoroughly for transient ischemic attacks (TIA). CT scan is often normal in such patients. So we should go for MR Angiography to rule out transient embolism which is causing TIA. If MRI is normal then we should rule out absent seizures as this can also also present like such symptoms. So get done EEG (electro encephalo gram). So consult neurologist and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your friend. Thanks.
