What Causes Recurring Extreme Dizziness, Chills And Feeling Of Black Outs?

My wife is 44 years old. The last 2 days she has been virtually bed ridden. When she opens her eyes and looks in either direction she gets terribly dizzy and chills shoot from her eyes up into the top of her head. Muscle pain and cramps in her feet. Her legs feel very heavy to her. She seems to get confused easily & the dizzy feeling comes when she takes in a deep breath and she describes it as having a mini blackout . Does any of this make sense? Also, she has had 1 bowel movement (today due to laxatives) and 2 in the past 9 days.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment, cardiac evaluation to look for possible cause of dizziness and confusion. Heaviness of legs, muscle pain and cramps can be due to vitamin D deficiency. I suggest you to get a vitamin d test. In case there is deficiency of vitamin D, vitamin D supplements can be given.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
