It has very strong connection with the CABG (bypass surgery). It also be caused due to history of recent weight loss, some drugs, sleep problems, emotional distress, alcohol ingestion.

Is he diabetic? Whats his sugar levels mostly?
Any history of hepatitis?

If I was his treating physician I would like to prescribe him, Metoclopramide (Reglan) 10mg by mouth every 6hourly 30minutes before meals and also before bedtime.

Plus, Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) 50mg by mouth 3 times a day for 3 days. If taking chlorpromazine by mouth for 3 days doesn't stop his hiccups ask his physician for administering 25-50mg of chlorpromazine intramuscularly every 4 hourly. Hope so, it will alleviate his symptoms.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.
