Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get huge cysts on my neck. I have had surgery 2 times in the last year to get these removed. No one can figure out what is causing them. I ve been battling them for almost 7 years now. Just recently found a doctor that would operate on them. I had my first surgery to get a massive cyst removed. No answer on what caused it but he believed that having it removed would clear up my neck and prevent them from coming back as quick as they had in the past. Less than a month after I had another one come back and had to have yet again another surgery. I was missing too much work due to the healing process after. Literally 3 weeks after second surgery I had another one growing. I decided not to have this one removed because I couldn t afford to miss any more work. I went and played in a basketball tournament a couple weeks later and someone asked how I got these giant scars on my neck. Upon telling him my story he went on to tell me that his grand daughters were having the same problem. He asked me if I drink a lot of Mountain Dew. I told him I drink about 6 Mountain Dews a day. He said it s the only connection he has ever made with these medical problems. I decided to take his advice, I quit drinking Mountain Dew. I haven t had a cyst on my neck or developing in about 2 months now. Does this sound like something that could be a possibility of to what was causing my cysts?
