Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have lower abdominal cramping which comes and goes - mostly goes but usually always happens around 4 - 5 AM and is usually followed by a bowel movement which is soft but formed. I never had diarrhea. I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago and it was fine. My nurse practitioner has scheduled me for a CT scan - but I m not sure that s the appropriate path to go. What do you think?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring lower abdominal cramps which can occur due to gastroenteritis , lactose intolerance, giardiasis, irritable bowel syndrome, food poisoning or peptic ulcer. Need not to worry. You should avoid large meals at a single time. You should take small and frequent meals. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food substances. You should exercise daily after having food. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound and endoscopy . Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , muscle relaxant along with antiemetic drug . For now eat light and non spicy, eat small and frequent meals and take antacid after every meal.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
