What Causes Recurring Muscle Pains In Legs, Wrists And Hips?

Hi I experience periods of muscle aches mostly in my legs, joint pain mostly in my wrists, and fatigue. I also have left hip pain which prevents me from walking and onset occurs when I ve been sitting for 10 min or more. These symptoms seem to occur prior to and during my period. I am 50 years old and I am relatively active. I am an EMT and my job has a lot of physical demands. I work out a couple times a week and I ve recently noticed more than some muscle soreness the day or 2 following my work out. It feels as though my joints become weaker. All of these symptoms will just disappear then show up again around my period and can last a week or more.

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Ah, one would look into either fluid retention or inflammation since these are associated with menstrual cycles. At 50, the cycle is likely to stop in the not too distant future. Alternatively, medications to lower periods could be used.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
